Effective Staff Induction

The Induction Station has a RFID pad under the table surface and a bar code reader positioned above it.

The most effective way to scan items in for induction is to first give the RFID reader a chance to detect a tag. To do this, place the item on the table surface so that the laser light from the bar code scanner cuts the item in half.

If the laser stays on, then the item does not have an RFID tag. Pull the item back to scan the bar code instead.  This time you will hear a "beep" and the laser light will go out.

This method of scanning will help to avoid a "double scan" problem. This problem occurs when the Induction Station reads a bar code and detects a RFID tag at the same time. When this happens, the sorter will fall behind. This means when the next item is scanned, the sorter will think it is the previous item. This can result in multiple items being sorted incorrectly. Following the method described above has been show to eliminate this problem.
