Library Mate Troubleshooting


When the Library Mate stops accepting items, the Orange lamp above the tunnel will shine.  Please follow these steps to restore the Library Mate back to working order for the public:

1. Clear the tunnel in the Library Mate of all obstructions, such as library items, pieces of paper, and any foreign objects.

2. Press the “Reset” button on the left back side of the Library Mate and wait 10 seconds.   Then go around and feed an item into the machine.  If it accepts the item, all is good.  If it does not accept the item, go to the next step.

3. On the computer closest to the sorter and open Internet Explorer.  From the Favorites menu, select the Library Mate link.

4. Click on the Events button on that web page.  If the events page lists a PEC error, look in the tunnel again for objects that are interfering with a sensor.  Clean the sensor and the reflective tape with the dry yellow microfiber cloth.  If you are still getting an error message, you will need to call Lyngsoe to troubleshoot.  (See step 10)

5. If no Event is listed, go back to the first page and click on the “Configuration Tool” button.  Log in with the username and password.  Go to the “System” tab.  Click on the “Restart Application” button on that page.  Then go around to the front of the Library Mate and feed an item into it when the green light comes on.

6. If this does not clear the problem, go back to the computer and click on the “Reboot System” button on the same page.  Once more, go around to the front of the Library Mate and feed an item into it when the green light comes on.

7. If this does not work, go back and click on the “Shutdown System” button.  It will take about two minutes for the computer to shut down fully.

8. After it shuts down, turn the power off on the Library Mate unit by pushing the orange-lite button on the bottom right side of the machine. Pull out the black power plug from under that button at the same time.  Leave the Library Mate off for ten seconds before inserting the electrical plug and pressing that same orange-lite button to turn it back on.

9.  Go around to the front of the Library Mate and for a final time feed an item into it when the green light comes on.  This should restore the machine.
